Juana Melo Wins Washington Migrant Recruiter of the Year Award
We are delighted to announce the well-deserved recognition bestowed upon Juana Melo, who has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious "Recruiter of the Year" award by the Washington State Migrant Education Program (MEP) for the 2022-23 academic year.
With the commencement of the upcoming fall season, Mrs. Melo celebrates her third year as a dedicated PSD Migrant Program Recruiter. Her remarkable journey within the district spans an impressive 18 years, during which she has fulfilled diverse roles, including bilingual paraeducator, nutrition services helper, social worker, and home visitor.
The Washington State Title I, Parc C, MEP reserves this annual occasion to honor outstanding migrant staff members who have exemplified unparalleled dedication and service while actively representing the program's ideals. Mrs. Melo's exceptional contributions, specifically her innovative approaches to nurturing relationships and fostering engagement with Pasco's migrant families, led to her selection for this prestigious award.
Upon receiving the accolade, Mrs. Melo expressed her elation, stating, "I am overjoyed to receive this award. I'm proud of the work we do in the Pasco District Migrant Program, helping our migrant families connect with our schools and community, facilitating effective communication, and enabling them to gain insights into the functioning of our educational system. The time invested in understanding each family's needs and being a dependable presence for them establishes a foundation of trust and enduring friendships."
The recognition of Mrs. Melo's exceptional commitment took center stage during the State MEP Conference awards luncheon, which transpired on Thursday, August 17 in Yakima. This commendation not only celebrates her individual accomplishments but also underscores the integral role that Pasco's Migrant Program plays in fostering connectivity and support within the community.
